The eCadet scheme was created by a team of social entrepreneurs including teachers, former police leaders and social media specialists. It is the first structured pupil-led peer empowerment program for 3-18 year olds and it aims to change the children’s behaviour regarding online safety.
We have a team of three eCadets in each KS2 classroom, totalling in 12 eCadets across our school. They have their own eCadet Zone, bursting with information and resources. We set them termly challenges through which they learn new eSafety skills and disseminate the knowledge across the whole school community. The children really do enjoy it, as they are in competition with other member schools in earning points to win the league and prizes. Most importantly, the eCadets enjoy sharing their own knowledge and understanding with others. Other children like to know that they have peers in our school who they can go to for advice and help. We are a school community who behaves safely online when in school and whilst at home.
