Science - Materials

We have been learning the names of different materials and spent time sorting objects into piles according to the material that they were made of. We did this as a class and then in smaller groups. We have also thought carefully about the properties of different materials. We enjoyed carrying out an experiment with a magnet, testing various objects to see if they were magnetic or not. Our final experiment was inspired by the story of The Three Little Pigs. We worked in six groups and built houses made from sticks, straws and building bricks. We then made predictions about whether they would stay standing or fall down once the big bad wolf attempted to blow them down. The big bad wolf was actaully Mrs Oates armed with our wolf puppet and a hairdryer!
