The summer holidays are the perfect time for children to read widely, where ever and whenever they choose. Promoting the reading for pleasure habit and keeping it going over the long break is really helpful in ensuring your children are ready for the new school year in September.
To encourage reading over the holiday, we are running an Xtreme reading competition whereby children are invited to bring in a photo of themselves reading in an unusual or challenging place. It could be in a tent, den or tree house or outdoors at the beach or up a mountain- in fact anywhere near or far that is imaginative and out of the usual. There will be a display of all photos in school in September and the reading judged to be most Xtreme will win a book token. Children in KS1 and KS2 will be judged separately with a prize for both age groups.
We look forward to receiving photos during the first 2 weeks back to school and the winners will be announced on Friday September 21st.
