To teach RE, we use the diocesan Emmanuel Scheme of Work across the whole school. This is detailed and comprehensive, giving teachers clear breadth and depth, which children build on year by year. As we are a Christian school, the majority of the units look at Christianity, but we also explore other faiths, including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Humanism. We sometimes ask visitors to come in to help us gain a fuller understanding of units and to enhance children’s understanding. We also have enrichment days across the year which build on faith topics we may have touched on during the year or for special faith celebrations.
